Go to Tegan and Sara’s myspace page to preview their new album, Sainthood, in its entirety.
This is the second album produced by Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla, out October 27th. This also marks the first time that the Canadian twins have co-written songs. In the past, each have penned their own lyrics for specific songs, never collaborating on that bit, but this time, they’ve decided to combine and share their experiences to create the goods. Check out “Hell”, “On Directing”, and pretty much every track off the new one – it’s solid.

With the release of her fourth album (Colour Me Free) coming up tomorrow, 10.21, there isn’t a better way to generate buzz than by taking a jab at your own record label in the form of a song – even better, the first single off the new album. Joss Stone belts about not being trusted or supported while she does what she loves most – and if you didn’t quite get who she’s referring to, then listen to the last few seconds of the song. She spells it out for you: “Free me…E-M-I.”
In a recent interview, she shared that there was a battle over the album cover – EMI thought it was offensive and has released the album with two different album covers – the plain cover will be released in certain countries.

And if you find it hard to follow me
If I loose you in my creative stream
Than you only got to raise your eyes
And see me fly
Don’t tell me that I won’t
I will
Don’t tell me that I’m not
I am
Don’t tell me that my master plan
Ain’t coming through
Don’t tell me that I won’t
I will

Try to get past the bad tune that is Har Mar Superstar’s “Tall Boy” and watch for Eva Mendes’ cameo in this space age trippy video.

The great people of Stereogum have given the best Icelandic artist a much-deserved indie-music tribute album – and giving it away for free…
Pulling out all the stops and creating a compilation featuring the Dirty Projectors (covering “Hyperballad”), Pattern is Movement (covering “Enjoy”), and Xiu Xiu (“Isobel”), the tribute gives Bjork’s already hard electronic sound an even heavier synth sound.

Wacky video, no concept, no idea or clue what’s going on – but Think About Life’s “Sixteen Candles” is a great mash-up of Bloc Party’s sound with a Friendly Fires presentation - sorta. Hard to classify the electonic-disco sound, but might be because the video’s distracting me as I type this…

Check out the new track from Canadian super duo-twins Tegan & Sara’s new album, Sainthood, out 10.27. The song is called “Hell” and according to Tegan:
I wrote the single, Hell, about my neighborhood in Vancouver. The song is actually about more than that though. When I moved into my new neighborhood in December of 2006, the Vancouver Sun had an aerial photo of my neighborhood with the headline “Vancouver’s four blocks of hell” on the front cover. Welcome home, I thought.
The song was also a clever metaphor for my unrequited feelings, for a girl, not drugs.
Check out what else she said here.
They play NYC’s Town Hall on October 30th and October 31st…
