WHO: Michigan band Lightning Love

COMPARISONS: A tamed down Metric meets Eisley

WORTHY: Pretty simple lyrics matched with simple production – and catchy.

MORE: The vocalist and drummer happen to be brother and sister – just like Eisley.

WHO: Los Angeles band Warpaint Emily, Theresa, Jenny, Stella.

COMPARISONS: An all-girl The xx, The Breeders in 2011 with a hint of Holly Miranda.

WORTHY: It’s chick experimental rock with balls, and their videos are almost like art.

MORE: Warpaint is one of those “bigger in the UK” bands at the moment, touring Austrailia and the UK in the next few months…AND FINALLY,  a band that Spacey Tracy, founder of Pulp Carnivale, and I can actually agree on.

What’s the matter? You hurt yourself?
Opened your eyes and there was someone else?
Now i’ve got you in the undertow.
Now i’ve got you in the undertow.
Why you wanna blame me for your troubles?
Ah ah ah you better learn your lesson yourself.
Nobody ever has to find out what’s in my mind tonight.

EMI has put up Abbey Road Studios in London up for sale.  The legendary space was most famous for hosting The Beatles and Pink Floyd during their recording career.

While the rest of us enjoy the great fall weather, Chris Garneau manages to bring us back to the cold and dreary.  Unsure if this is an “official” video for “Pirates Reprise”, but it’s worth watching for the WTFs moments.

You can thank this ridiculousness…

…for bringing Chris Brown back to the top of the charts…peaking at the #7 spot on the Itunes charts.

A throwback to the sounds of the Hives and that other band that we all confuse them with (The Vines), Billy Boy on Poison brings an edgier sound (than those Brits) with their debut album, Drama Junkie Queen (released this week on Universal’s label).  Reassuring us that good music can be born out of Los Angeles, this four-piece band’s first single “On My Way” was featured in promos for HBO’s Entourage, and for good reason.  See sample lyrics below, and check ”em out.

I’m creeping through your hallway darling
Coming to make you sweat
I’ll make it to your bedroom, honey
I can make you wet

No Words.

From her awkward stance to her uncomfortable sense of stage fright, this quiet confidence she tends to give off takes a back seat to her undeniable talent.  Fiona Apple can do no wrong in my eyes.  This is one of her best live performances I’ve ever seen…and I’ve seen plenty! UNREAL.

The Kills’ “U.R.A. Fever” video was released in late 2007 and somehow escaped the noteworthy buzz it should’ve received over a year ago.  The British-American duo instills the same bad-ass ‘tude heard in the song “Sour Cherry”, the track made famous thanks to Gossip Girl’s TV promo for season two. Check out the below to get hooked.

My good friend Tiff Randol just debuted her new video for her beautiful ballad, “Shame’s a Bitter Game”.  My fiery redhead looks better than ever and her vocals sound off a strong and soothing melodic hymn that roars at just the right moments.

As you listen to all of her work as a solo artist, Tiff’s style is a great blend of Neko Case and Jenny Lewis (of indie band Rilo Kiley) – raw, edgy talent with some sexy growling mixed in.  She’s an all around brilliant talent and even though she left us in the East coast to live out her dreams in L.A., I’m still rooting for her . The track is taken off her new set of songs called The Polyamorous Collection.

Williamsburg, the Lower East Side, and the rest of Manhattan miss you, Tiff. Visit soon…
